Welcome to the Lancaster Vineyard Food Pantry & Outreach!

We are located at 423 W Wheeling St. Lancaster, OH, 43130.
We are open Wednesdays, 3:00pm-6:30pm.
We do not provide a delivery service.

We are a ministry of Lancaster Vineyard Church
and our mission is:

Transforming People,
Transforming Our City,
Together in Christ

  • The heart behind the Food Pantry & Outreach originated from our founding pastor, Joel Seymour, and his wife Kristi as they began to see why God called the Lancaster Vineyard Church into existence in 1998. They saw that people in our community need to experience a taste of heaven. In heaven there is no poverty, there is no hunger, there is no struggling to get by, and this is God’s heart for the people in our community. In the beginning, it was by word of mouth that we would hear of neighbors in need. Everyone would pitch in for groceries and we did drive by deliveries to families.

In 2000, the operation of the Lancaster Vineyard Food Pantry began when a couple from our church began to invite people into their walkout basement and garage to shop for free food.

In 2001, we started to operate the pantry out of a small office, and by 2007, the pantry moved to its current location at 423 West Wheeling Street.

In 2021, we changed our name to the Lancaster Vineyard Food Pantry & Outreach. Our focus has always been to provide food, but we also recognize that people are hungry for more. The people in our community have a variety of needs. In everything we do, our heart is to build connection, inspire hope, and be a tangible expression of God’s love with the people in our community. Everyone we serve has the opportunity to secure not only food, but also emotional and spiritual support.

  • At the Lancaster Vineyard Food Pantry & Outreach we serve people who are in need including individuals and families, single parents and couples, people with limited income, elderly and homeless of Fairfield and surrounding counties. We see about 480 family visits at our food pantry every month.

We are a choice pantry, like a neighborhood market located on the west side of Lancaster where anyone is welcome to come and shop for groceries.

We create space for deeper connection and growth with the people we serve by offering one-on-one support and by regularly hosting neighborhood gatherings, workshops and outreaches.

All individuals of every creed, race, gender, sexual preference, and economic group are welcome to participate and will be served equally.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

COMMUNITY IMPACT

PB & Joy at Tallmadge Elementary

The Food Pantry & Outreach collaborates with United Way of Fairfield County and Victory Center Food Pantry to serve those in need and make sure our county's most vulnerable, our children, aren't without food. We support the hunger needs of children by putting together a package of food for the students in need at Tallmadge Elementary School to take home every month. The package includes a variety of foods that can be prepared by a child such as fruits and veggies, canned pasta, soup, and cereal.

FEEDING Fairfield County

H3 Alliance - (Hunger, Health and Hope Committees)

The Lancaster Vineyard Food Pantry & Outreach is a part of The Fairfield County Hunger Coalition, also known as H3. We are working to build a healthy, educated community by providing information and resources to those dealing with food insecurity in our community.

H3 has two major goals. The first goal is educating low-income families and individuals in our community about their ability to eat healthy on the limited funds they receive through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), aka food stamps. Our second goal is to provide education and training opportunities to everyone in the community in regards to hunger and hunger related health issues so that our community can be healthy and strong.

Over 18,000 residents of Fairfield County are food insecure. Food insecurity is the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.  The cost of a meal in Fairfield County is around $2.80 per person, per meal but through the SNAP (food stamp) program, folks only receive around $1.40 per person, per meal. Even though there is a large discrepancy between the cost of a meal in Fairfield County and the amount of assistance folks receive, we want to educate SNAP recipients and show them that healthy eating is an option. We also want to teach families that through healthy cooking and eating habits we can lower the risk of hunger related health issues, such as, obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
